デザイナー
ミッドガードのデザイン史は、1919年にCurt Fischer(クート・フィッシャー)が取得した可動式照明に関する世界初の特許と、バウハウスでの展開にまで遡ります。Werner Glasenapp(ヴェルナー・グラーゼナップ)によるバウハウス期のデザインを含み、現在はStefan Diez(ステファン・ディーツ)、Sebastian Herkner(セバスチャン・ヘルクナー)、そして新世代のデザイナーとの協働へと続いています。
素材、技術、調整方法は世代とともに変化してきました。しかし、その根底にある原理は一貫しています。光を可動にすること。

Curt Fischer(クート・フィッシャー)
Curt Fischer founded Midgard Licht in 1919 and obtained the world's first patent for an adjustable electric lamp. His inventions established a new principle of movable light, followed by numerous patents and designs including the TYP 113 Bauhaus lamp and the Modular lighting system.
Midgard lamps were used throughout the Bauhaus in Dessau. Fischer's principle of directing light precisely where it is needed continues to shape Midgard today.

In 1949, Glasenapp founded the post-war design department at the Folkwangschule für Gestaltung in Essen, adding design education to his contribution to German design.
