KEY FEATURES

EXCEPTIONAL ADJUSTABILITY

Three independent movements - rotating arms, stepless height adjustment and a rotating lampshade - provide an exceptional range of movement with a projection of up to 124 cm.

ROTATING LAMPSHADE

The characteristic K831 lampshade rotates on its Bakelite dome, allowing the light to be directed precisely where it is needed.

PART OF THE HERITAGE COLLECTION

Designed by Werner Glasenapp in the early 1930s, K830 wall continues one of Midgard's defining principles: making light adjustable.

MADE IN GERMANY

K830 wall is made in Germany and assembled by Midgard in Hamburg. Tubular components are manufactured today by descendants of Werner Glasenapp's family.

K830 WALL

Exceptional adjustability.

Three independent movements give K830 wall its remarkable versatility. The tubular steel arms rotate freely from the wall, while a textile cable running through the construction connects the lamp head to a counterweight for continuous, stepless height adjustment. At the end of the arm, the K831 lampshade rotates on its Bakelite dome to direct the light precisely.

Together, these movements provide a generous projection of up to 124 cm - extending light far into the room from a single fixed wall mounting.

DIRECT THE LIGHT

One socket. Many choices.

The standard E27 socket keeps the choice of light open. Modern retrofit LEDs can be replaced at any time, while colour temperature and light output can be selected according to individual needs. Compatible smart E27 bulbs can also be used if preferred.

Made in Germany.

K830 wall is made in Germany and assembled by Midgard in Hamburg. Its construction retains the materials and manufacturing principles that define the original design: tubular steel arms, a textile cable running visibly through the construction, a counterweight for stepless height adjustment and the characteristic K831 lampshade on a black Bakelite dome.

The metal lampshade is double-enamelled, with its coloured exterior contrasted by a white interior for a neutral reflection of light. It is formed using traditional metal-spinning techniques before being enamelled. The rotary switch remains positioned directly on top of the Bakelite dome.

The connection to Werner Glasenapp continues through production today. Descendants of the Glasenapp family manufacture the tubular components for K830 wall in Germany, creating a direct link between the original design and its production today.

Part of the Midgard Heritage Collection.

From the Bauhaus era to the present.

Designed by Werner Glasenapp in the early 1930s, K830 wall was documented at the Berlin Building Exhibition of 1931 as part of Die Wohnung unserer Zeit, led by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe.

More than ninety years later, the same principle continues to define K830 wall: extensive movement achieved through a small number of precisely coordinated components. It connects the design directly to Midgard's continuing history of adjustable light.

FAQs | K830 wall

Where can I use K830 wall?

With a projection of up to 124 cm and an exceptional range of movement, K830 wall can provide adjustable light beside a bed or sofa, above a desk or table, and wherever light needs to reach different positions from a fixed wall mounting.

Can K830 wall be operated from a wall switch?

K830 wall has a rotary switch on top of the Bakelite dome for operating the light directly. Depending on the electrical installation, it can also be operated via a wall switch. For project applications, K830 wall can also be supplied without the rotary switch on request.

Which light source should I use?

K830 wall uses a standard E27 socket for replaceable LED bulbs. Midgard recommends an LED light source of 6 to 10 W at 2700 K for warm, comfortable light. Other colour temperatures can be selected according to the application.

How are K830 wall and K831 pendant related?

K830 wall and K831 pendant belong to the lighting series developed by Werner Glasenapp in the early 1930s. Both feature the characteristic rotating K831 metal lampshade on a Bakelite dome, allowing the direction of light to be adjusted.
