About K831 pendant
Based on a rare draft from the 1930s, the re-edition of the K831 pendant lamp continues Midgard's tradition of adjustable lighting. A hand-adjustable lampshade rotates smoothly on the Bakelite dome, allowing light to be directed precisely where it is needed, while the integrated rotary switch allows the luminaire to be operated directly or via a wall switch, offering greater flexibility for different installation scenarios.
The result is a pendant luminaire that combines timeless simplicity with everyday functionality. Manufactured in Germany and assembled in Hamburg, the K831 features carefully crafted details, a standard E27 socket for retrofit LED bulbs and a design that remains relevant across generations.

The K831 pendant lamp is available in eight selected finishes: aluminium, brass, copper, powder-coated black, enamelled anthracite, enamelled cement grey, enamelled pale green and enamelled black.
The solid metal finishes retain the natural appearance of the material on both the inside and outside of the shade, subtly influencing the warmth and character of the reflected light.
The enamelled finishes are coated twice: coloured on the outside and white on the inside. The white enamel interior provides a neutral reflection, bringing out the natural qualities of the chosen light source.
Every K831 pendant lamp is supplied with a 3-metre black textile cable and a specially developed matt black powder-coated steel canopy.

Originally developed for a workplace project, the K831 pendant lamp is equally suited to dining tables, coffee tables, kitchen islands, workspaces, restaurants and cafés. Wherever directional light is required, the adjustable shade allows the light to be positioned precisely where it is needed.
PLANNING YOUR LIGHTING
The K831 pendant lamp can be used individually or arranged in pairs and groups above dining tables, kitchen islands and workspaces.
For dining tables, we generally recommend hanging the luminaire approximately 70–80 cm (28–32 in) above the tabletop. When using several K831 pendant lamps, a centre-to-centre distance of around 60–80 cm (24–31 in) usually creates balanced illumination and a calm visual rhythm above the table. The ideal spacing depends on the table length and the desired lighting effect.
LIGHT SOURCE
The K831 pendant lamp features a standard E27 socket, allowing you to choose the light source that best suits your space.
Midgard recommends an E27 retrofit LED with 2700 K and 6–10 W for warm, comfortable light. Smart E27 bulbs can also be used if preferred. The luminaire is suitable for light sources up to 40 W.
Please note: A light source is not included, giving you the freedom to choose your preferred brightness, beam angle and colour temperature.
A standard E27 socket gives you complete freedom to choose the light source that best suits your needs. Whether you prefer a warm residential atmosphere, a brighter workspace, a smart E27 bulb or future LED technologies, the light source can easily be replaced without proprietary components or special tools.
MATERIAL & FINISHES
The K831 pendant lamp is available in solid aluminium, brass and copper, as well as double-enamelled finishes.
Solid aluminium, brass and copper shades reflect the character of their material, creating subtle differences in the quality and warmth of the light. The double-enamelled shades feature a white interior, producing a brighter and more neutral reflection.
Yes. Every K831 lampshade can be exchanged, allowing the appearance and light effect of the luminaire to evolve over time without replacing the entire product.
Replacement shades and spare parts remain available directly from Midgard.
For project applications, aluminium shades can also be powder-coated in almost any RAL colour for orders of 10 pieces or more. Please contact us to discuss colours, pricing and lead times.
MANUFACTURING & DELIVERY
Every K831 pendant lamp is assembled in Hamburg using components manufactured in Germany.

Each K831 pendant lamp is supplied with a 3-metre black textile cable and a specially developed matt black powder-coated steel canopy for ceiling installation.
The luminaire is carefully packed in a white presentation box, making it equally suitable for personal use or as a gift.
The E27 light source is not included, allowing you to choose the brightness, light colour and LED technology that best suit your requirements.
