Portrait of Italian industrial designer Cristian Loddo, co-designer of RAY by Midgard

Cristian Loddo

Industrial designer based in Milan and designer of RAY for Midgard.

Design through reduction.

Cristian Loddo is an industrial designer based in Milan. He graduated in Industrial Design from the Politecnico di Milano in 2008 and joined Sowden Design Studio in 2010, working across research, development and product design. In 2014 he founded his own design studio in Milan.

His work moves between product development, industrial design and consultancy, with a strong interest in how construction, material and use can be reduced to a clear idea.

RAY BY MIDGARD

A new typology in lighting.

Designed by Cristian Loddo, Hugo Berger and David Einsiedler, RAY rethinks the principle of adjustability. Mechanical complexity gives way to material efficiency, with flexible steel bands becoming both structure and movement.

The result is a radical, reduced lighting object built around the very principle that has defined Midgard since 1919: adjustable light.
