The LOJA lighting series transforms light into a sculptural statement, balancing direct and indirect lighting. Set your statement.
About LOJA
Designed by Sebastian Herkner for Midgard, the LOJA lighting family explores the relationship between light, form and atmosphere. A gently curved paper shade, resting on a hand-blown glass body, allows an intuitive interplay of direct and indirect lighting with a simple gesture.
The result is a collection of table, floor and pendant luminaires that combines sculptural presence with everyday functionality, bringing together timeless craftsmanship and atmospheric light. Recognised with the Archiproducts Design & Sustainability Award, LOJA demonstrates how thoughtful product design can contribute to more sustainable products.

Frequently asked questions
DESIGN & COLLECTION
LOJA was designed by Sebastian Herkner, one of Germany's most internationally recognised designers, for Midgard. Known for combining craftsmanship, material sensitivity and contemporary design, Herkner explores the relationship between light, form and atmosphere through the LOJA lighting family.
The LOJA lighting series by Sebastian Herkner includes table, floor and pendant luminaires. Every model shares the same adjustable paper shade and carefully selected materials while offering a different scale and application.
LOJA combines sculptural design with adjustable light. A simple movement of the paper shade changes the balance between direct and indirect lighting, allowing the atmosphere of a space to adapt throughout the day. Even when switched off, LOJA remains a distinctive object within the room.
LOJA is manufactured by Midgard using specialised manufacturing partners across Europe. Hand-blown glass, precision metalwork and carefully selected materials reflect the craftsmanship behind every luminaire.
LIGHT & TECHNOLOGY
LOJA is equipped with tunable white technology as a standard. Tunable White allows the colour temperature of the light to be adjusted between 1800 K and 4000 K. From bright, neutral light during the day to a warm, relaxed atmosphere in the evening, LOJA adapts naturally to changing moments. The changing light is beautifully reflected by the white paper shade, giving the luminaire a different character throughout the day.
Tunable White adjusts seamlessly between 1800 K and 4000 K integrated in smart-home environments. Using the integrated soft-touch dimmer, Tunable White changes in predefined steps while remaining intuitive to use.
Yes. LOJA supports Matter, making it easy to integrate into compatible smart home platforms including Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and many others. The integrated memory function recalls the last light setting for a seamless user experience. When controlled via the app or a Matter-compatible smart home system,

Yes. The LED unit features a tool-free bayonet lock and can be replaced within seconds. The transformer is also exchangeable, allowing the luminaire to be maintained and repaired over many years.
Midgards LED unit 3.0 is available as a spare part online here.
RA, also known as the Colour Rendering Index (CRI), measures how faithfully a light source reproduces colours. With an excellent Ra 95+, LOJA produces a light that lets colours, materials and textures appear almost as they do in natural daylight.
MATERIAL & LONGEVITY
LOJA combines a hand-blown glass body with a paper shade (water-repellent) and solid nickel-plated steel components. Every material has been selected for its durability, performance and craftsmanship.
Yes. The paper shade is reinforced with cellulose, making it both stable and flexible. Its water-repellent surface is designed for everyday use while preserving the soft appearance and tactile quality that define LOJA.
LOJA was developed according to Midgard's principles of repairability and circular product design. All components are
slotted together rather than glued, allowing every individual part to be replaced. The luminaire consists of only three separable materials—paper, glass and steel—which are fully recyclable.
This approach has been recognised with the Archiproducts Design & Sustainability Award.
Yes. Original spare parts, including Midgard's LED unit and transformer, are available directly from Midgard. LOJA is designed to be maintained, repaired and enjoyed for many years rather than replaced.
