Hugo Berger
Designer and co-creator of RAY for Midgard.
Hugo Berger works across product, graphic and editorial design. Together with Cristian Loddo and David Einsiedler, he developed RAY for Midgard.
Across objects and visual culture.
After studying design in Paris and Chiba, Hugo Berger developed his practice in Italy and France. His work moves between objects, publications and visual culture, combining product development with graphic and editorial design.
Berger has collaborated with George Sowden, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Rivista Studio and Humboldt Books. He is co-founder and creative director of The Light Observer, a magazine dedicated to light in architecture, art and design, and works with Almine Rech on graphic and publishing projects.
A new typology in lighting.
Designed by Cristian Loddo, Hugo Berger and David Einsiedler, RAY rethinks the principle of adjustability. Mechanical complexity gives way to material efficiency, with flexible steel bands becoming both structure and movement.
The result is a radical, reduced lighting object built around the very principle that has defined Midgard since 1919: adjustable light.
